KIDS WE HAVE HELPEDNick is an 11-year old boy on our football team whose life has been touched by a Colorado Kids 1st grant. Nick's father is in prison, and his mother is living with family and without a working vehicle. There was a question as to whether he would play because his family did not have the money needed to pay for required equipment and league fees. Some of our coaches found a resource to repair the family’s vehicle and the Colorado Kids 1st grant provided the funds necessary to purchase Nick's football equipment and keep him in the league. Youth football has helped him immensely. Last year Nick was often in trouble at school. Since playing football, there have been no phone calls from his teachers regarding poor behavior. Being a part of the team has improved his self-esteem and mitigated discipline problems. Nick is an inspiration to all of us - he is one of the very important reasons our coaching staff and players remain motivated and dedicated to youth sports. |
